Yesterday we asked the question, “Are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Really Ninja?” Today, Sensei Hakim Isler digs a little deeper into the question. Why exactly do movies like to use the word “Ninja” while displaying other martial arts?
Because as he says, the essence of the Ninja is secrecy. Covertness – doing what needs to be done without drawing attention. If a Ninja is threatened, he or she wants to disarm the threat and move on before bystanders even know what has happened.
Watch the video to see what else Sensei has to say:
Hollywood needs to put on a flashy show to sell movie tickets. An altercation in the street isn’t very interesting if you can’t see what happened. True ninjutsu won’t draw a crowd, and it won’t hold a movie audience’s attention. But in a real life situation, it often provides the best chance for a potential victim to not only deflect an attack, but go on about their day as if the attack never happened.
As a reminder, Elevo Dynamics will be performing demonstrations at the premier of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles August 8th and 9th in Fayetteville.
Friday August 8 look for us at Market Fair Theater on Skibo Rd from 6-8 PM.

Hope to see you there!
