1. It’s Direct & Efficient
2. It’s Direct from the Source
3. Good for Weight Loss
4. Enhances Coordination
5. Teaches Adaptable Skills

1. Silat was forged in warfare and therefore it is a very direct no holds barred system.

Silat is not a competitive martial art, it is a martial art designed to keep you safe and alive during the most extreme of circumstances. Silat was used in the past by Malay warriors to protect South East Asian empires from invaders seeking to control spice routes. Thus the people designed an art that was capable of allowing them to fend off invaders from various continents. Although no longer a art used for warfare the art still focuses on simplicity and efficiency in learning and delivering combat effective skill sets.

2. Our Silat comes direct from the source.

Although Silat has been around for hundreds of years, it is still very rare. There aren’t many authentic instructors in the United States especially when compared with other arts. You are more likely to find someone that claims to teach Silat but doesn’t have a clear connection to an authentic lineage. Our roots come directly from the source as our practitioners get to train directly with our Malaysian Silat Master several times a year.

3. Silat was born for war, so as you would expect, it is explosive and dynamic.

On the battlefield there is very little room for error and no room for low stamina. For this reason Silat is precise, efficient and effective. Practitioners are taught in a regimented way how to gain explosive dynamic movement that is specific and decisive. No movement is wasted and focused intention is paramount. Practitioners grow stronger, and build stamina and get more fit through repetitive drilling and purpose-driven training.

4. Silat consistently works both sides of your brain and body, which enhances coordination and agility.

Silat drills are often designed to build a practitioners ability to use both sides of their body simultaneously much like a drummer. Silat is a real world martial art that improves hand eye coordination and bi-manual coordination. This training not only improves your brain function and process ability but it also enhances spatial awareness.

5. Silat teaches you adaptable skills that will give you the flexibility and freedom to use multiple means of defending yourself.

A Silat warrior of the past couldn’t afford to be on the battlefield without a weapon or with a weapon that he has picked up but couldn’t use. Therefore Silat emphasizes knowledge on various weapons and the science and principles behind those weapons. Practitioners of Silat become well versed in how to use any object/weapon to their advantage. In addition to weapons Silat practitioners work extensively on empty hand and grappling tactics as these skills were also valuable for a warrior if he find himself disarmed on the battlefield.
